Lesson plans
The TangIn Educational Lesson Plans cover STEM-based subjects for primary school education, integrated with tangible programming concepts. There are two introductory exercises and activities aimed at presenting computational thinking, programming and robotics; and explaining the use of the robot and the blocks to programme. These are followed by 19 thematic exercises and activities addressing different primary school levels, and various STEM-based subjects, promoting the use of tangible programming concepts.

Introductory note

These plans shall not be considered immutable and tight as teachers shall have the freedom to adapt them to the dynamics of their class and explore what they consider more relevant for their students. The 21 initial plans were developed by the TangIn research team and tested in the framework of the project in Portuguese, Spanish, Bulgarian and Latvian schools.

Further to these, the teachers participating in the testing phase have developed new lesson plans that are presented below.

01 | Intro Programming
RESUME
SUMMARY

Introduction to Computational Thinking, Programming and Robotics by using commands and role play dynamics. Simulate inputs and outputs and predict outcomes. Give examples of programming and algorithms in everyday life.  Age group: all.

02 | Introducing MIGO
RESUME

SUMMARY

MI-GO is a tool that embodies the tangible programming concepts. This session is aimed to the introduction of the story of MI-GO and the explanation on how it is programmed.

The first part of the session is dedicated to the customization of MI-GO where students use their imagination and art skills to build a character.

Students will also learn that the robot is programmed through the use of blocks and the function of each block. At the end of the session they will be able to execute simple instructions. Age group: all.
