On last Friday, July the 5th the Portuguese partners implemented a session with primary school teachers and headmasters presenting the most relevant results of the project.
Taking advantage of the TIC@Portugal19 event, Agrupamento de Escolas da Murtosa and Centro de Competência TIC da Universidade de Aveiro organised the Portuguese multiplier event of the TangIn project, that gathered almost 30 participants.
The event was organized into practical and hands-on-job activities, coordinated by four of the teachers of the Agrupamento de Escolas da Murtosa, that have presented the pilots implemented in their classes and the resources used: the teachers handbook and the TangIn toolbox of resources composed by 21 lesson plans with practical activities based on tangible programming and computational thinking, covering different STEM-based topics of the primary school curricula.
At the second part of the event, participants were divided into small working groups and invited to experiment with the activities proposed in some of the lesson plans as if they were their own students. This has allowed participants to have a flavor of the content of the TangIn toolbox and of the teacher’s handbook.
Furthermore, it was also presented to the audience the TangIn teachers training package with a focus on the structure and content of the continuous teacher training courses on the use of tangible programming concepts and tools in primary education.
The global program consisted of the following slots:
- The TangIn project: rationale and objectives
- The toolbox for teachers: an overview of the lesson plans and of the teacher’s guidebook
- Hand-on session: participants will implement selected lesson plans in groups and share their experiences
- The teachers training package: a tool to train other teachers in the context of continuous teacher training and initial teachers training.
