TangIn is presented in programming and ICT thematic events

The TangIn project has been widespread through the participation in various events that are being promoted in Portugal, devoted to topics such as programming, new technologies and school curriculum innovation.

On 4th of July, Aveiro University organized the II CIDTFF Fórum aiming to promote practices, strategies and resources to empower teachers’ continuous education in didactics and technology. The Forum was organized by the research center for teachers training in didactics and technology of Aveiro University and a poster on TangIn was accepted and included in the Poster session and book.

On the same day, but in Lisbon the Final event of the Programming and Robotics in the Basic Education Initiative (Probótica), took place at the Secondary School Vergílio Ferreira. This event addressed all teachers interested in this topic. The project was also at the event, where it was presented to participants in an oral session, complemented with a workshop of how a robot may be used as tangible programming object. The Probótica is an initiative of the Directorate-General of Education of the Portuguese Government, in partnership with various entities, such as, the National Association of Teachers of Computer Science, the ICT competence center of the University of Évora, the ICT competence center of Setubal, the ESE ICT competence center of the Institute of education, University of Lisbon and Microsoft Portugal.

All the public and private schools were defied to participate, with students from the 1st to the 9th grades. In the school year 2017/18 this initiative reached out 260 school clusters of Portugal, 74 Private education institutions, 13 schools in the autonomous region of Madeira and 3 schools in the autonomous region of the Azores, the Portuguese school of Macao and the Portuguese school of São Tomé and Príncipe, involving 64692 students.

Finally, on June the 06th, the project was also promoted at the meeting TIC@Portugal18 held in Lamego, an initiative of the Association EDUCOM-Portuguese Association of Educational Telematics. The objective of the event was to enable the sharing and reflection of educators and teachers on the use of ICT in teaching and learning processes. Thus, this was also an excellent opportunity for the research team to present the TangIn project to teachers and educators and to share experiences and lessons learned.
